The $98 million project is scheduled for completion by December 2021. Improvements include providing additional capacity, better traffic flow, enhanced safety, reduced congestion and delays. Additionally, the project will enable the future construction of the Northbound Truck Climbing Lane, between Lambert Road and the Orange County and Los Angeles County line. The total project cost is approximately $98 Million. Brea was awarded $65.7 million from Senate Bill 1 Federal Transportation Funding and federal freight highway program funds. The City has also committed over $12 million for the project from its local mitigation funds, and received over $12 million from 2018 OCTA Measure M2 Funds for construction.
City staff will work with Caltrans to minimize construction disruption, manage traffic and support ongoing communication throughout the project. Stay in touch with City of Brea official news sources.
